The Spatial Data Infrastructure goes mobile. An efficient
and customizable application specifically designed to take
advantage of handhelds’s mobility
DbMAP Pocket is a complete GIS
solution integrated with the typical architecture of a
centralized geographic information system, based on spatial
database. It takes advantage from the mobility features
of the most common handhelds like PDA and SmartPhone, equipped
with specific devices like GPS, electronic compasses, etc.
This software allows to visualize
and consult vectorial maps, satellite
images, aerial photos and raster images coming from a GIS infrastructure and
makes the administration of projects for territorial data
acquisition simple and intuitive, through advanced
geographic data and attributes editing functions, well organised to
perform efficient data census, also using GPS devices.
Everything is completely integrated and compatible with
the features of the selected handheld device.
With a few simple steps the
user will be able to make his/her handheld device immediately
operative and always ready to use, storing all
the necessary information and data in the system memory.
Taking advantage
of DbMAP Viewer & Author and DbMAP Data Manager features,
the user will synchronise the handheld device with the
central database and will arrange his/her missions in order
to obtain all the necessary layers from the database itself,
together with the referring attributes, so as to create
particular forms usable in DbMAP Pocket.
The best application for data census provided with complete
SDK for the development of customised solutions
DbMAP Pocket was developed on applicative experiences whose
purpose was to allow a massive data census. The functions
are organised in an ergonomic set of controls (the controls
can be linked with the buttons available on the chosen
hardware).
DbMAP Pocket is also available with source code in the Developer
Kit version, together with the complete
SDK with
all the necessary libraries (.lib) for the development
of new handheld applications.
